Liberian Aids Prevention & Awareness (LAPA) Program
BOSTON, MA - The Liberian Aids Prevention & Awareness (LAPA) Program announces its formation and website launch. As we are looking forward to the prospects of improvement in Liberia, there are many issues at hand. One of the most pressing is advancing the health care system. In acknowledging this and working to participate in this restoration, we have launched the Liberian AIDS Prevention and Awareness (LAPA) Program. The specific goals and aims of the program are outlined on the website, but in general LAPA strives to achieve the following: · Raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and other medical issues by dispersing information to friends and members of the Liberian community · Promote and encourage use of comprehensive individual and collective prevention strategies · Encourage and galvanize Liberians and members of the Diaspora to be involved in improving the country's health care system · Serve as a way for Liberians to participate in advocating health care reform To get more information about LAPA or to become involved, please visit the website at www.lonestarhealth.org or our blog at http://lonestarhealth.blogspot.com where you can take polls and post messages.

Written with compassion, honesty and clarity, Elma Shaw's Redemption Road helps us to finally begin to make sense of what has often been termed a 'senseless' war. Hers is a new but mature voice that shows remarkable insight into both the causes of Liberia's civil war, and the cure for healing the wounds and averting further conflict.
